This is a picture of Great Pond in Eastham. Great Pond is one of some 365 freshwater ponds on Cape Cod. Most of these are kettle ponds.
Kettle ponds were formed when blocks of ice from the last glacier became imbedded or covered by outwash materials, leaving depressions that filled with fresh water when ground water rose to intersect them.

This is Sunken Meadow Beach which is located on the bay side of the Cape. There are several more beaches in this area, all just as beautiful....
Crooks Brook Beach

And of course, there's no better way to end a beautiful beach day in Eastham, than to stop in at the Lobster Shanty Restaurant for a cold beverage and some good old Cape Cod Fish and Chips!
