This is a picture of Great Pond in Eastham. Great Pond is one of some 365 freshwater ponds on Cape Cod. Most of these are kettle ponds.
Kettle ponds were formed when blocks of ice from the last glacier became imbedded or covered by outwash materials, leaving depressions that filled with fresh water when ground water rose to intersect them.

And of course, there's no better way to end a beautiful beach day in Eastham, than to stop in at the Lobster Shanty Restaurant for a cold beverage and some good old Cape Cod Fish and Chips!

It sounds like you had a good vacation. I love the Lobster Shanty - makes you want a cold beer and some seafood.
ReplyDeleteOh, Dang. The USS Envy just left the dock, with me on the bow...
