The Story of Stuff

An interesting website, with an even more interesting video about "Stuff". It doesn't pressure, just informs... and on a level that all can understand. I am not a liberal environmentalist... but I do believe in taking responsibility for our future. I recycle, shop less, make informed choices when I do purchase "stuff". This website offers even more options for all of us...

  1. FireFox... the browser... is refusing to play videos for me, yet again. About which: beyond old. WAY beyond.

But I've bookmarked this and will watch it in IE when I get done with The Rounds.

  2. Interesting perspective... More convienence, more safety, but it's all OUR fault and we shouldn't be doing this.

  3. Buck - thanks for checking it out!
Jim - I got the impression that the makers of the video believe it was Washington and BIG Business (post WWII) that originally got us started on this path... creating the "nation of consumers". The "Average Joe" never stood a chance. But we are smarter now, and more informed...therefore shouldn't we take responsibility? After all, who IS "Washington" and "BIG Business" anyhow? Aren't these entities made up of the same homo sapien individuals who walk, talk, breathe, and use the same products as the rest of us? I am not willing to jump on the Al Gore bandwagon (who BTW should be shot for treason!)but I am willing to take responsibility for my share in all this. (I've funded the businesses that are doing the deed, by buying their products). If indeed this is consumer driven, then I can push my weight around and so can you and everyone else in America. Will it change anything? Maybe, maybe not. Let me go get my rose colored glasses on..... ;)
